Do I Need Any Special Equipment To Make And Receive Phone Calls Through My Computer?
First of all you should have a high speed (broadband) Internet connection. You will need a computer headset (with microphone) which you can get from your local computer shop for under $10 US. For more convenient calling you can buy a USB Phone. If you buy a USB Adaptor, you can use any conventional or cordless phone to make and receive calls.
What Do I Need Before I Can Make Calls From My Soft Phone?
After the Soft Phone is installed on a suitable computer, the only other requirement is a microphone and speakers and Internet connectivity. Using a headset, with built in microphone will be more convenient and offer better call quality. For the ultimate calling experience, use a Gamlot USB Phone.
Can I Use My Computer To Browse The Internet While I Am Busy With A Call?
Yes, it is always possible to browse and talk at the same time. Call quality is influenced by available bandwidth, if your Internet connection's bandwidth is very small, browsing will affect the quality of your call.
How Do I Make A Call From My Soft Phone?
Once your Soft Phone is activated, you can use your mouse to click on the number buttons of the Soft Phone and then press the call key. You can also use your keyboard to dial by simply typing the number. If you have a USB Phone connected to your computer, you make a call in thesame way you would from a normal phone. If the number is stored in the address book of your Soft Phone, you can just "double click" on the number or highlight the number and press the dial button, the Soft Phone will automatically dial the number. You can also dial from your call history in the same manner as from you phone book.
What Happens If I Switch My Computer Off?
For you to receive calls on your Soft Phone, your computer needs to be switched on and connected to the Internet. Your Soft Phone needs to be activated on your computer and you need a microphone and speakers, a headset or a Gamlot USB Phone. Any other subscriber can then call you by dialing your Soft Phone number from any VoIP device connected to the Gamlot VoIP network.
I'm Using The USB Adaptor, Connected To My Cordless Telephone And My Desktop Computer. Does My PC Need To Be Switched On For The USB Adaptor To Work?
Yes, the USB Adaptor runs off the PC's power supply and you still need your Soft Phone to make calls in this manner.
Does My Soft Phone Application Need To Be Open On My PC For Me To Make Calls With My USB Phone?
Yes, your USB phone makes and receives calls through your Soft Phone and cannot work without it.
Can I Use A Webcam With My Soft Phone?
Yes you can, video capabilities are available. Just bear in mind that the bandwidth at your disposal while using a Webcam with your Soft Phone might have an influence on the picture quality.
Can I Save On International Roaming Charges By Using My Soft Phone?
Absolutely, you can ask your family, friends or colleagues to call you on your Soft Phone number while you are on your trip. You can set call forward on your Soft Phone to any prepaid mobile number you acquire at your destination or any land line number that you are close to.
What Kind Of Computer Do I Need For My Soft Phone To Work?
The Gamlot Soft Phone will work on any computer platform that can function normal with one of the operating systems that can support our Soft Phone (Windows 95 and later). The computer has to be fitted with a sound card to be able to use your Soft Phone. For best results, Gamlot recommends the following: " Pentium 3 or later 256MB RAM
How Do I Subscribe To A Buzz Plan?
You can subscribe to a Buzz Plan via our website. Just follow these simple steps
1. Click on either the Subscribe icon on the left hand side of the website or click on the Soft Phone picture on the home page.
2. Once you have clicked on this link you will be taken to the subscription page.
3. You will need to complete the subscription page. On this page you will need to decide some of the following:
a. How many Buzz Numbers you would like.
b. What package you would like to subscribe to.*
c. Your user name and password.
d. All other relevant information (this includes a valid e-mail address - this is needed so that you can receive an e-mail giving you the link to download our Buzz Soft Phone).
*An important note regarding packages: Once you have chosen a certain package you are bound to that plan. We will not be able to upgrade or downgrade your plan at any time. Because your number is linked to a certain plan we are unable to allow you to keep your number if you change plans after your initial 12 month contract The "Try Before You Buy Plan" is valid for 30 days only and after this period your number will expire. If you have already registered for a "Try Before You Buy" you will not be able to do so again. The "Free Plan" allows you to be a subscriber without having to be bound to a 12 month contract. You will have to make your monthly subscription payment of US$ 5 every month to keep your account active. You will be able to call at our "Free Plan" rates. All our other plans ("Blue, Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum Plans") are subject to you signing a 12 month contract with us. These plans allow you to call at "Premium Plan" rates.
4. Once you have completed the above subscription page and carefully read the terms and conditions you will have to click the submit button.
5. You will now be taken to a payment process page (if you have chosen a "Try Before You Buy Plan" you will see the value is zero). The value of the plan and the number of numbers you have taken will be reflected on this page.
6. You will have the option of being able to either pay by credit card or make a cash / bank electronic transfer.
7. Select the payment method that you wish and proceed to enter the relevant information and submit the payment.
8. You will now receive an email that will provide you with your Buzz Soft Phone Number, Password and a link from where you can download the Buzz Soft Phone.
How Do I Download A Buzz Soft Phone
Easy! Just follow the steps below:
1. Once you have registered you will receive an e-mail from us. On the e-mail will be a link that you will be able to download the Buzz Soft Phone from. By clicking on the link given in the e-mail you will be prompted with a File Download message.
2. You will be asked to either Run, Save, or Cancel the File Download.
3. Please choose the Save option.
4. You will then be asked where you would like to save the Setup File on your computer. (To find this file easily simply we recommend you save it on your desktop).
5. Once you click on the "Save" button the download will commence.
6. Once the download has completed you will see an icon on your desktop called "B-tell (2011) setup".
7. By double clicking on this icon will start the setup program.
8. You will now be prompted with a Open File information box. Please click on the "Run" button.
9. The Buzz Installation Wizard will now open. Please follow the set up instructions.
10. Click the "Next" button on the first page of the Buzz Installation Wizard.
11. Then select a folder to where you would like the Soft Phone to be saved. We recommend you use the default location which is c:\Program Files\Buzz Softphone. Click on the "Save" button. If you would like change the location simply click on the "Browse" button and select a new location.
12. Once you have selected the location please click on the "Install" button.
13. Once the installation has been completed you will be taken to the last page of the Buzz Installation Wizard and you can click on the "Close" button.
14. The installation is now complete. You will now see the Buzz Soft Phone icon on your dektop. To run the Soft Phone simply double click on the icon.
Do I Have To Configure The Soft Phone With My IP Address Etc Or Does It Just Self Install?
No configuration is necessary. It is ready to use straight away after dowloading.
Do I Need A Router? What's A Router Anyway And What Does It Do?
No, you do not necessarily need a router for your phone to work. A router would be needed only if and when you wish to connect the phone to multiple computers. A router is a device that allows multiple computers or Internet devices to use your cable or DSL broadband connection at the same time. You can purchase one at any local computer store.
I Am Using A Wireless Router At Home And In The Office. Can B-Tell's Products/Solutions Work With Wireless Routers?
Yes, our products/ solutions can and will work with correctly configured wireless routers. Simply configure your router to support port forwarding in order to allow voice data to come through and from your product. Consult your router manual for instructions on opening ports range 1719, 1720 & 9999 for TCP and 1719, 1720, 41000 & 41001 for UDP. .
Will My Buzz Soft Phone Work With My Other Computer Equipment Like Modems And/Or Routers?
Our phone products and solutions are compatible with most computer equipment. We recommend you to use a standalone ADSL/Cable modem instead of a combination router/modem.
